Stephan Breban Advisory Board - Dean Wetton Advisory

Stephan has 30 years’ experience researching and investing in illiquid assets across the globe, as both a consultant and a fund manager.  In this time he has also advised pension plans on all aspects of investment, from asset allocation to manager selection.  Stephan joined DWA Limited in 2009, providing rigorous, independent advice on all aspects of illiquid investments to institutional investors.  He covers PE, loans and infrastructure and is a long-time, keen advocate on illiquid investments for pension plans.  Stephan sits on a number of Advisory Boards; private equity, broader investment, and outside of the industry.  Stephan has been advising UK pension plans on investment into infrastructure for 20 years and private equity for 30 years.  Stephan was the only pension fund representative and a founding member of the Low Carbon Finance Group, an industry-wide renewables body, established to consult with the UK government on its review of Feed-in-Tariffs to the renewable energy industry. Prior to this Stephan was head of Private Equity research at Russell Investments where he advised Lancashire County Council on its infrastructure manager selections.  Before that he founded City Capital Partners, where he worked with institutional investors in private equity, such as British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme, City of Zurich Pension Fund and Unilever Pension Fund, and has advised a number of managers and consultants, including Henderson Investments, Hewitt Associates and Nordea Private Equity.  Existing clients include ASGA, a Swiss Pension Fund with CH8 billion in assets, whom he is advising on private equity and infrastructure investments and Santander CF, the pooled investment vehicle for the various pension plans within Santander (UK). Stephan is a regular speaker at pension fund conferences, and specialist alternative investment conferences.  He co-authored the Institute of Actuaries paper, The Concept of Investment Efficiency and its Application to Investment Management Structures, and its follow-up, The Concept of Investment Efficiency and its Application to Asset Allocation Policy and Manager Selection. He has written a number of articles and is a regular speaker on private equity at pension fund and industry conferences
