Trevor is the founder of Specialist Pension Services Ltd and SPS Conferences, as well as co-founding executive director of the European Pension Fund Investment Forum (EPFIF). He advises Pension Funds and other investment institutions throughout Europe and in the United States. Trevor's career started at the Legal & General Assurance Society, and progressed through Swiss Life Insurance & Pension Company to GEC (now known as Marconi) where he became Assistant Pensions Manager in charge of scheme administration. After a brief spell with Lonrho, Trevor joined Maxwell Communication Corporation and subsequently transferred to The Mirror Group as their Pensions Manager. He left The Mirror in October 1992, a year after the Maxwell debacle, to start Specialist Pensions Services. In his position with EPFIF, Trevor organises seminars and other events in Brussels, Copenhagen, Helsinki, London, Stockholm, Zurich and Zeist (Netherlands) for Pension Funds with assets of €1,000 billion. Fred is an Executive Director of Specialist Pension Services Ltd and its subsidiary SPS Conferences, as well as Co-founder and Executive Director of SPS’ sister company, The European Pension Fund Investment Forum. Fred has worked in the fields of investment, corporate finance, private equity, law and government. His career started in Washington, first with the US Congress as a Senior Legislative Aide and then with the US Government’s Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as Trial Counsel. Fred then moved to New York first with Standard & Poor’s as Vice President Corporate Finance (Bond analyst) and then with Jefferies & Co. (an investment banking firm) as Senior Vice President, International Business Development. He transferred to the Jefferies’ London office and subsequently worked as an advisor to several private equity firms.Liz Doughty
In January 2012, Liz joined SPS as Special Projects Director, a wide ranging role which includes developing the international SPS conferences and introducing new business initiatives across both SPS Conferences and its sister company, the European Pension Fund Investment Forum. Liz has over 20 years experience in conferences, publishing and business to business media particularly within the financial services and legal industries. Liz graduated from Manchester University with a Law Degree and, after achieving the Law Society Finals (exam for solicitors), joined Sweet & Maxwell publishers as a legal editor. She moved to Kluwer publications as a commissioning editor responsible for pensions and benefits publications before joining IBC Conferences (later the Informa group). Liz was promoted to Director of the asset management conference team before moving to a part-time role following the birth of her first child. In 2006 she moved to Informa’s newly acquired IIR conference group and whilst there she was responsible for growing and developing some of the team’s largest events. Liz also holds a post-graduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.Suzanne Gordon-Brown
Suzanne is Head of Sales and Marketing at SPS Conferences. She is responsible for recruiting sponsors and putting the programme of events together. After graduating with a degree in Computer Studies in 1986, Suzanne began her Career at a software consultancy installing Investment Management systems for City Institutions before joining County NatWest Investment Management in 1988 as a business systems Analyst. In 1991 she transferred to the UK Institutional sales team selling asset management services direct to Major UK Pension Funds. She progressed to the position of Business Development Director, UK Institutional Pension Funds, which she retained following the firm's merger with Gartmore in 1996. In 1998 she joined Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where she was responsible for developing both the UK Institutional Market and the firm's Institutional business in Southern Africa. In January 2001 she moved to Morgan Stanley in New York City and joined the Public Fund team, responsible for client service of the company's largest Public Fund Clients. Following the birth of her first child in September 2001, she took a career break to become a full time mother. She had a second child in May 2003, returned to the UK in October 2004 and joined SPS in December 2005. Sue Golton
Sue is Conference Co-ordinator at SPS Conferences. Her responsibilities include ensuring the website is kept up-to-date, organising the mailing of conference invitations, logging replies and ensuring database information is updated. She also works with the Conference Manager to produce the conference documentation. Carla Charlton
Carla is a Conference Manager at SPS Conferences. Her role is primarily to liaise with speakers and to manage the receipt and production of conference documentation. In addition, she manages the on-site running of each event, including any pre-conference events. After graduating with a BA (Hons) Hotel Business Management from BCFTCS, Birmingham, Carla went on to work for an Expotel hotel reservations agency. A year later she joined Risk Waters running financial conferences and exhibitions mainly in the US. Carla managed the logistics for UK events in the education, funding and sports industry for Electricword plc for over 6 years. She joined SPS conferences in April 2007.
Rob Walker
Rob is Office Manager at SPS. He is responsible for the day-to-day running and administration of the office, and this has included the implementation and project management of various new office related projects. These projects have the main objective of improving the efficiency and overall standard of service that SPS provide to their clients. In addition, he is also exploring new opportunities to expand the range of activities that the company currently offers to the "Pensions Industry". Rob has a wealth of "hands on" experience in the financial sector, having worked in the past for a major UK bank in various Head Office roles, and for a large City of London based stockbroker, where he held a senior position working directly for the Managing Director. Over the past five years Rob has been heavily involved with e-commerce and smart card activities within the UK. He joined SPS from Hitachi Europe Limited where he was the Principal Consultant on their Smart Commerce team.
