SPS Virtual: Infrastructure & Other Income & Stable Return Investments for Pension Funds
April 15, 2021
This conference will examine a range of investment strategies designed to help pension funds achieve targeted income and stable returns, whether from equities, bonds, property, infrastructure or real assets. We will consider factors such as ways to reduce volatility & risk, governance, liquidity, fees, inflation, transparency and how to balance risks with expected returns to achieve differing scheme objectives. We will also aim to consider how such strategies performed and targets fared under the extreme conditions of 2020.

Why Secured Income is an intelligent alternative to traditional credit
In today’s low return environment, and with the threat of inflation and rising interest rates, debt investors need to think carefully about how to achieve income without stretching down the risk spectrum. This requires a smarter approach; many investors are currently paying for the luxury of liquidity, either by sacrificing yield or by taking additional risk. Yet Secured Credit offers investors across the tenor and risk spectrums a yield premium to similar traditional credit without the need to reach for risk. We discuss how such assets can benefit investors who can think more carefully about what they need from their overall fixed income portfolio, and why ‘untraditional’ secured income should be considered as part of an efficient fixed income portfolio.

Why Secured Income, why now?
As Pension Funds contemplate their long-term goals and adjust portfolios accordingly, we explore the role secure income real assets can play in pension fund investment strategies. The pandemic was an unwelcome test of portfolio resilience - did secure income real assets do what they were supposed to? The investment outlook remains uncertain with unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus distorting markets. We look through the noise and discuss the longer-term themes that should guide pension fund investors.
The conference is by invitation only for pension funds and other institutional investors. If you are not already receiving an invitation please contact us. A limited number of Complimentary invitations are usually available to genuine pension fund representatives (executives and trustees) and other approved institutional investors. SPS always reserves the right of admission (free or paid) and our decision is final.
SPS Virtual will be hosted on a dedicated webpage so you won’t need to download any specific software.
