SPS Virtual: European Pensions Investment, Post-Covid
June 3, 2021
Macro-investment outlook; Sustainability; Asset Allocation; Cashflow & Risk Management
This conference is aimed at pension funds/institutional investors from across Europe as they seek to navigate the post-Covid investment landscape and to assess opportunities and challenges post-pandemic. We expect to examine macro-economic and political impacts such as monetary policy, developments in ESG/climate change, as well as the outlook for various asset classes and strategies. These could include thematic investments and real assets as well as geographic & regional investments such as China. We will also consider asset allocation and the techniques/tools available to help investors best manage their cashflow and risk management, such as CDI, liquid/illiquid investments, dynamic risk management, etc. During the conference, we plan to give delegates the opportunity to join regional and/or asset class break-out workshop groups to enable them to discuss specific concerns/challenges with appropriate experts and peers – for example: Dutch, Irish, Nordic and/or Equity and Bond investor groups.
The programme will include speakers from both international asset managers as well as the European pension fund industry and will address key investment issues for European pension funds and institutional investors. The full programme will be available shortly but in the meantime we can advise you of the speakers and topics so far:
From the margins to the mainstream, ESG factors have become an essential component in modern investment management. Yet the very popularity of common ESG approaches ensure their reduced efficacy in the next 20 years, whether for alpha generation or impact. Today’s ESG risk management emphasis will likely evolve into a focus on the purpose of the corporation itself as investors recognize the need for more proactive approaches and the transformative opportunities of key sustainability challenges. The Covid‐19 crisis has provided a challenge for investors to accept a broader societal role than solely generating income for retirement.
