Is EM Local Currency Debt still worth investing in?

In this presentation we discuss the key reasons if and why investors should still consider investing in EM local currency debt, the factors behind the recent weakness in the asset class returns and the importance of selectivity to find attractive opportunities in EM local currency debt.

High Yield: Where are the opportunities in a Post-Crisis Recovery

While spreads are at the tighter end of their two year range, the market environment is now far more supportive than it has been in past due to fiscal and monetary support for economic growth. As the COVID-19 situation improves, the fundamentals driving economic growth will need to be balanced against technicals in financial markets driven by potential inflation concerns. We will discuss if sub investment grade companies stand to benefit from the strong economic growth given their higher degree of leverage and expected defaults rates. From a global perspective we will look at where the opportunities are in high yield and consider how resilient they are to future volatility.

ESG 2.0

From the margins to the mainstream, ESG factors have become an essential component in modern investment management. Yet the very popularity of common ESG approaches ensure their reduced efficacy in the next 20 years, whether for alpha generation or impact. Today’s ESG risk management emphasis will likely evolve into a focus on the purpose of the corporation itself as investors recognize the need for more proactive approaches and the transformative opportunities of key sustainability challenges. The Covid‐19 crisis has provided a challenge for investors to accept a broader societal role than solely generating income for retirement.
