James is a partner at Mercer and has worked within Mercer’s investments business for 14 years. He is the lead investment adviser to a number of UK defined benefit pension clients with individual assets of up to £60bn+. His clients have a wide a range of different governance approaches, including small and large in-house investment teams as well as FCA authorised investment managers. James enjoys advising clients with a wide dispersion of risk appetite and asset allocations, from largely de-risked schemes to those with greater appetite for risk in pursuing investment return. His particular areas of interest include strategic asset allocation and risk management, including LDI. He also contributes to a number of internal working groups responsible for the development of ideas for Mercer's clients. James has a first class degree in mathematics from the University of Cambridge and is a qualified actuary.
