Richard joined Capital Cranfield in December 2019 having worked in pensions for over a decade acting for the sponsor and as a trustee on DB, DC and hybrid plans. He led the funding and investment team in a large corporate responsible for liabilities of £40bn across a score of funds and is a trustee of two large pension funds (and has been co-opted on to other investment committees). He started his career in engineering in a large multi-national before moving through multiple commercial, corporate finance and investment decision making roles. He chairs the pension committee of the Church of England Pension Board responsible for three very complex pension funds and a large housing charity. Richard is also one of five trustees who manage a €2bn Belgian cross border plan with particular responsibility for investment and risk. He has a strong interest in ESG and responsible investment. With extensive experience of commercial transactions and negotiating pension funding and pension scheme mergers Richard brings a pragmatic approach to problem solving and reaching agreement between stakeholders.
