Clive is Head of Pensions UK at Airbus, one of the few final salary schemes still accruing benefits. He has spent most of his career (35 years) involved in company pensions “on the inside” working for a number of blue chip UK based companies. This includes spells at British Waterways Board, Santander (when it was Abbey National) William Hill and Inchcape. He remembers the days of employer contribution holidays, balanced management (oh is that now called fiduciary management) and even calculating GMPs manually (they’ve become fashionable again all of a sudden).
