David Martin
Member of the Investment Committee
United Reformed Church Ministers' Pension Trust
David is Convenor of the United Reformed Church (URC) Investment Committee. He is a Trustee Director of the URC Ministers’ Pension Fund. The URC Investment committee oversees investment policy for that scheme, another pension scheme and other non-pension church assets. Among other roles, he is a Non-Executive Director of The UK Pensions Regulator (TPR) and chairs the Professionalism Committee of the International Actuarial Association and the Standards, Freedoms and Professionalism Committee of the Actuarial Association of Europe. He is also a member of the international Actuarial Standard Setters Round Table. He has a degree in Mathematics and Physics from University of Glasgow, and qualified as an actuary with Standard Life Assurance Company in Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, of the PMI and of the RSA. He worked for 32 years until 2012 as a pensions consultant and Scheme Actuary with Mercer and its predecessor companies in the South East of England, latterly as Mercer’s UK Professional Leader, chairing their Professional Standards Committee. David served twice on the Council of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland (the second term as vice-president). He served on (and chaired) the Professional Affairs Board and Regulation Board. He was a member of the Council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and Leader of the Scottish Board until June 2013.
