Tom has been involved in sustainable finance for most of his career. Previous roles have included leading the University of Cambridge’s ClimateWise network, the largest insurance industry group on climate change risk and as a senior advisor to the UK Government on green finance, fintech, and resilience. He led early designs of the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and has delivered numerous studies into the finance sector’s responses to climate change risk and resilience. This includes modelling the impact of physical and transition risks for investment and lending portfolios. Support for the finance sectors alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals has seen Tom work across Africa, Asia, and Latin America promoting the role of technology in deepening access to financial services, and engaging cities across the Global South to invest in more sustainable, resilient, and bankable public infrastructure projects. Tom is currently the founding partner and Executive Director of WeESG Group, a global strategic advisory and bespoke training provider which regularly advises industry, governments, and regulators on all aspect of sustainable finance.
