Martin Collins
Trustee Director
Vidett
Martin became a professional trustee at with Vidett in 2020 in order to return to a role of taking responsibility for the financial futures of the public.
Beginning his pensions career in 1989 with a summer trainee actuary job at Mercer, Martin was inspired to become a Scheme actuary and did that for 16 years with Pointon York, Aon and WTW. Martin then completed a four-year spell in investment banking solutions at Santander Martin, before joining Lloyds Banking Group in 2010 as it stood close to collapse after the financial crisis. As a treasury and investment director at Lloyds, he secured the pensions of 300,000 members with a £14bn collateral pool and then saved the bank £20bn in capital through successful pension investment and funding strategies. This restored the bank’s health enough to restart dividends, which lead directly to the government’s full recovery of their £20bn bailout injection. Martin later returned to a senior consulting and relationship role at KPMG in 2016.
