Session 2: Energy Security, New Risks, Defence Investing and Building a Resilient Strategic Asset Allocation Policy
This session examines global macro headwinds and the European economic landscape, along with geopolitical risk and its implications for long-term asset allocation. We will also look at interest rate trajectories and fixed income positioning, and what a return to a world of higher inflation means for Swedish pension funds in 2026 and beyond.
Energy security is now at the forefront of many people's minds, and many pension funds have already invested in regional renewable infrastructure — hydropower, wind, battery storage — to strengthen resilience and meet net-zero goals. This session asks how schemes should rethink the impact on their portfolios, the risks and opportunities this brings. Also whether defence investing offers new opportunities and how diversification should now be considered.

Session 3: Evolving ESG & Sustainability Strategy and Considering Investing in Natural Capital
Sustainability strategy is being rethought amid geopolitical conflict, regulatory divergence, the climate crisis and competing stakeholder demands, with biodiversity loss an increasingly important but still less-considered factor alongside established ESG and climate themes. This session also asks whether now is the time to consider natural capital as an investable opportunity.

Session 4: Investing in Private Markets and Real Assets – New and Emerging Risks, Opportunities and Their Role Today in Portfolios
This session asks whether private markets are delivering the returns investors expect, and how risk has changed, particularly in private credit and equity. We will also consider whether real assets should now play a more prominent role given the higher and more persistent inflationary outlook, and how governance, transparency and measurement can be improved following recent losses on illiquid investments.
