Sarah Forster

The Good Economy
Sarah Forster is CEO and co-Founder of The Good Economy (TGE), a leading, independent social impact advisory firm whose work not only aligns with but also influences global best practice.
From strategy development to verification, TGE helps organisations to define, measure, evaluate, report and verify their impact. TGE is also leading work to scale-up institutional investment for place-based impact by catalysing the development of devolved, place-based approaches to impact investing through greater alignment and collaboration between asset owners, asset managers, local governments and other local stakeholders
Sarah brings over 25 years’ experience in the fields of sustainable development, finance and impact measurement and management. She combines a strong knowledge of public and private sector development policy issues with hands-on experience in convening effective partnerships between government, business, financial and social sector organisations. In 2017, she was recognised as one of the UK's leading Women in Social Enterprise.
Sarah started her career in international development working for Afghanaid. From 1992 to 2001, she worked for the World Bank where led the design of large-scale poverty alleviation investment projects in Africa, South Asia and the Balkans, with a focus on microfinance and community-led development, particularly in post-conflict countries.
Prior to establishing TGE, Sarah held senior positions at the New Economics Foundation and Big Issue Invest and was the senior technical advisor to DFID’s Impact Programme which was instrumental in catalysing the impact investing market globally.
