Steve spent the first 9 years working for the London Stock Exchange in market supervision, also managing key parts of the Exchange’s move to order driven markets and eventual demutualisation. Steve joined Investment Technology Group in 1999, to launch the first alternative trading and crossing venue in Europe. After this Steve moved to JP Morgan where helped develop the banks’ first equities programme trading business and then designed, built, launched and managed the banks’ first transition management platform. During this time, Steve and the team managed some of the largest transition events in the industry, including one the largest single event mutual fund restructurings. Steve then joined Credit Suisse in 2008 where he re-structured the bank’s global transition business, alongside Credit Suisse Asset Management managed the largest single transition event in Europe in 2011 (conversion of one of the Netherlands largest industry schemes). In 2013, Steve joined State Street Global Markets to head their sales and product development. During this time, Steve further developed State Street’s interim asset management capabilities providing interim portfolio solutions to some of the largest UK local authority pension schemes and global sovereign wealth funds. Prior to leaving State Street in 2016, Steve conceptualised and co-authored, a paper on Event Shortfall (measurement of pension fund decision making & implementation management).
