Mike has spent over 30 years managing and investing for LGPS, private and, charity sector pension schemes. He is an Accredited Professional Trustee at Pi Partnership and the longstanding independent Chair of Trustees of the Institute of Cancer Research Pension Scheme. Mike has also developed a portfolio of complementary NED, senior advisory and consulting roles within the UK pensions, investment management and real assets industries.
In his executive career Mike’s most recent role was CEO of LGPS Central Limited. Under his leadership assets more than doubled to c£30bn, with several multi-billion-pound fund launches and the establishment of investment fund vehicles which now span both public and private markets asset classes.
Before taking the lead at LGPS Central, Mike was the CEO of Pensions Infrastructure Platform (PiP), a £1.5bn specialist UK infrastructure investor established and funded by UK pension schemes. He successfully built the investment and management team, achieved FCA authorisation oversaw the management of core UK infrastructure assets across renewable energy, transport, health and social housing. Prior to PiP, Mike spent five years as Chief Investment Officer for the £2bn pension schemes of DMGT plc, the UK based, global media business.
