Tom Attwooll
Senior Specialist - Asset Owners Investment Practices
PRI
Tom Attwooll is a senior specialist at the PRI, leading the Asset Owner work programmes. These collaborative initiatives involve different asset classes, types of ESG incorporation, and various sustainability issues. With a focus on how Asset Owners work with their external managers. Tom has substantial industry experience, having worked in investment management, and with asset owners integrating ESG factors and climate solutions. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Liverpool, an MSc in Development Finance from the University of Reading, investment and ESG qualifications from the CFA and CISI, and an MSc in Environmental Economics & Climate Change from LSE.
Asset owners set the direction of markets and therefore play a key role in promoting and embedding environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors throughout the investment chain. Asset owners are increasingly developing sustainable investment policies and actions which include requirements for external managers. The PRI has created a series of technical guides to help asset owners develop a responsible investment policy, and then select, appoint, and monitor an investment manager accordingly. These tools will be outlined, along with insights from PRI’s Reporting & Assessment, and case studies from asset owners on how they work with external managers on ESG risks and opportunities.
